Complimentary Color

Complimentary Color

Black is usually my go to color in my SL and RL wardrobe, maybe because it's easy to work with, some roots I have in NYC so I got used to wearing it or I just like it, whatever the reason though to step outside that comfort zone is easy it just doesn't happen often. So what happened that made me step away from that norm? It was pretty simple, a friend of mine, Alecat Breda of N4RS  was nominated for 3  awards at the SL Adult Industry Awards (2 of which he won! Congrats hon!). Ale's partner and mine were both busy in RL so he asked me to accompany him. I asked what I should wear and being the creative soul that he is, he said green because it compliments your red hair. As a RL art educator (and red head) I know a lot about color theory and green being the complimentary color to red it does look good on a red head, so I went with it. The invitation said "sexy/formal" but I also wanted classy so after some serious hit and misses and a lot of time on marketplace I ran across this Topazia dress. I was unsure at first but once I put it on, adjusted my Maitreya mesh body for it and chose hair I was in love with it. Sexy, formal yet still classy. Everything I wanted and then some. The addition of some nice jewelry and I was set. It was a great event, I felt confident and was so happy to be able to celebrate an amazing creator and friend. Congrats Ale on your awards and thank you for a lovely evening!

More Uber Goodness

Uber (Chapter4)

The Uber goodness just keeps on coming! Today it's all about my SEUL fringe skirt. I grabbed it at Uber and to be honest I had a whole other idea on styling it with boots and a white blouse and some boho jewelry but I was going through my inventory and found this fur poncho by IAF and I went with it. The hair is from Lelutka one of the newer releases called Aaliyah it uses their new color hud which I am liking but I do kinda miss all my hair bases not just automatically matching, maybe there have new bases and I just haven't grabbed them yet. I went with a root fade from the hud and it had sort of a Khloe Kardashian feel to it. I could see her in the short tight fringe skirt and fur poncho. The shoes are another fav of mine from Uber by Just Designs. FYI READ THE ENCLOSED NOTECARD! This pair of shoes comes with socks also and you have to read the notecard what socks to wear with what shoes if you want to know which ones will work with your mesh body. For instance if you need the Maitreya socks you have to wear the Belleza shoes. Once I had that all sorted out though was loving them! The bench and rug from Junk is also at Uber as well as the wall art from Tarte. I don't know if I will blog much more from Uber, I still have a ton of things I haven't yet but we will see how it goes, Snow days have allowed me a little more blogging fun this week than I normally get! :-)

Boho Beauty

Uber (Chapter3)

My third post on things to spend your lindens on at Uber. There is soooo much stuff there I really loved and way to little time to blog it all. The skirt and top from Foxes is way cute, love the design on both pieces because it adds to the look rather than overwhelms it. The coin jewelry from Izzies I like way better "in person" than I did on the vendor photo and I am loving the hair from Little Bones. I have to tell you about the Sideboard from N4RS. The detail on this thing is nothing short of perfect, The chrome handles are just wow and the textures are clean, clear and crisp, love the color and the add touches of the painted door fronts. It's a incredibly well made piece of furniture AND it comes with a copper bowl, incense AND wall hanging. That's a generous designer! The make up tray with the bottle and the plant sitting on the sideboard are also from Aria's set at Uber called Willa and it feeds my need for details. I was able to make my mesh body work with this outfit so a big plus there! So thank you designers and creators for some really great stuff added to my inventory!

Bohemian Uber

Uber (Chapter 2)

Another Uber look and this one is definitely a little more bohemian than the last outfit I posted. The knotted Zenith dress is really sweet, has nice lines, isn't too baggy and a nice low back to show just enough skin. The Truth hair is really pretty, long fishtail braid down the back with a choice of adding cute little flowers or butterflies as accents and the wedge shoes from Eudora add some height so the dress doesn't overwhelm. The pillows come with the Kalopsia Gipsy Shack you see pictured as well as the rug you see inside. Just barely visible inside is a nice boho bench from junk, the candle lantern is from there also. Almost forgot! I added some Maxi Gossamer jewelry keep the style going. I am definitely feeling the boho vibe with this look.

Waiting For My Ship to Come In

Uber (Chapter 1)

Uber opened today and I was excited to go! I kept hitting that tp button til I finally got in and it was so worth it! The theme this round is Bohemian, and there is a lot of really boho things, this outfit didn't quite strike me as true bohemian but I did like it a lot. This is something I would wear to the lake when it's still just a slight nip in the air early and late in the day. It's a nice  casual laid back look that is a little dressier than jeans and a sweatshirt. The outfit is from MotiAme, the hair Wasabi Pills both available at Uber. I paired it with a simple Maxi Gossamer whistle necklace, Phunk canvas sneakers and stole a bag from the men's department at ISON. All in all a simple but stylish look.

Skirt: MotiAme  Slim Striped Skirt in Black
Hair: Wasabi Pills Abby in Cinnamon
Necklace: Maxi Gossamer Vintage Race Whistle
Shoes: Phunk Low Top Sneakers

More Shiny Shabby

Shiny Shabby II

I have some more Shiny Shabby for you! So much good stuff there! So this outfit is by Reverie, the Honey Pie Tied-up shirt and skirt are really pretty. The skirt and shirt come in multiple colors but I tend to settle on the neutrals more than the colors but I admit I had a hard time deciding between the red and the brown skirt. I like the skirt well enough I may go back and get the red one as well. I rarely get a chance to wear this Maitreya hat/hair combo so I was excited I got to use it for this shoot. I didn't do much to this outfit other than add one of my Maxi Gossamer necklaces that has a vintage feel to it, and the ieQED rings from the Shiny Shabby event. The setting uses {anc} print roll screen that I seriously love, you can't see all of it in this photo but go check it out, you will love it too. The glass bottle and drape are from the 22769 decorating pack and the painting, one of my favorite items from the Shiny Shabby event, comes with the awesome N4RS Siena set. I will probably be visiting the event again, I tried to have some restraint the first time around I am slowly losing my resolve had controlling my purchases!

Shiny Shabby

SHINY SHABBY

I stopped into the Shiny Shabby event today and was really pleased with some of the items offered. I love they style and comfort of the "shabby chic" look of things and the sweetness of the fashion that fits into the style. I grabbed a whole lot more than what is pictured here and the items you are only getting a glimpse of has some wonderful pieces that go with it. The N4RS lamp, well it goes with a a whole amazing set, chair, rug, stool, painting, Huge bang for your buck (in the material sense;-). The little vase of flowers is from a decorating set by 22769 (bauwerk) that has some amazing stuff in it most notably for me some cool paper wings that are for hanging on the wall but I am gonna try to wear at some point. The table from Reverie was a gatcha item at the event and the chair with TONS of fabric options is from Apt. B.

Home wise, Shiny Shabby is a win and fashion wise it's pretty good too! My whole outfit is from the event, the Glam Affair skin, Tableau Vivant hair, Zenith dress, JD boots (you can't see but trust me are fab!) ieQED rings and Mandala Jewelry set all were purchased at the event. There is something for everyone including the gentlemen! If you like spending ALL your lindens, and are into vintage style, head over there.

Vintage Cyber Girl

Vintage Cyber Girl

I visited Futurewave last night and while I normally am not one to go all out on cyber type things I had a good time and ended up buying quite a few items. There is a large selection of items and while much of it is very futuristic, there were several items that kind of reminded me of vintage views of what the future would hold. I ended up styling with that in mind and I think I got close to that vision. I sort of see this as a "Lost in Space" era look. It was fun to put together and if you enjoy a futuristic lifestyle in SL then the Futurewave event will be right up your alley.

Just Wait.

Just Wait.

Waiting, sometimes it's actually a good thing, allows you to gain perspective, build anticipation of what's to come and creates an excitement that immediate gratification doesn't allow. Sometime's it feels like an eternity, nothing will change and all will be lost. I constantly try to stay with the more optimistic version of waiting although I can be guilty of being impatient. I wait for event to open counting the hours until I can see the newest and brightest offerings SL's amazing creators come up with. I spend way to many Lindens on things I may or may not wear or use just because artistically I so appreciate the work they have put in to something and how it shows in the detail and the care that in which it was made. I try to be more selective these days but it's hard, still I have slowed down buying every gorgeous gown or dress since I am really a jeans and sweater kind of girl. This outfit I would wear in RL and would probably be a go to on a regular basis. Simple, easy and comfortable but stylish. I picked up the Pure Poison Amy flats at Kustom9 along with my new favorite pair of jeans from Fishy Strawberry.  The jacket and shirt is a combo from Cold Logic and normally has stuff a little too tame for me but when I mix and match I find somethings I really like, again, well made trumps almost everything and I have not even been disappointed with any of these designers. I have other things in my life I am having to wait on right now, so I guess I am being a little reflective, it's hard to wait, especially when you have no control over it, it can get depressing, but optimism is a sweet gift to those that have to wait, so now that I have hit up a lot of the current events, I will wait for the next round of events, optimistic that it will be worth the wait!

Cold Winter Day

Cold Winters Day

So I am sitting here at home watching a very cold rain; it was suppose to have been snow but alas no such luck. I know some of you are sick of snow and winter but for those of us who rarely see the white stuff the thought of a snowy day is as exciting as hearing those magical words..."School is closed for a snow day". It is very cold though and I am keeping warm snuggled up in a favorite sweater and this dress from Zenith (available at Kustom9) reminds me of it, the dress version of it anyway. I thought this was such a nice dress, the texture is fabulous, not blurry at all which happens with a lot of knit textures. I kept it simple pairing it with my Maitrerya Devi boots in brown, Exxess Jagoda hair and Mandala Milky Way choker in brown. I was able to wear the dress with my Maitreya Lara body which always makes me a happy camper. Kustom9 is open and they has some really cute things I will try and get to blogging this week. Maybe if I can get another "cold rain day" off.

Dress: Zenith Comfy Sweater Dress in Milk available at Kustom9

Vintage Flair from Gizza

CHAPTER FOUR

I dropped by the Chapter Four event today and wasn't expecting to purchase anything as I have been trying to not spend so much on clothes, shoes and builds but once again my willpower took a hike. I couldn't resist the "Colette" sweater and skirt ensemble from Gizza it had such a cool vintage vibe to it, dress it up with heels and gloves for "Mad Men" style shopping excursion or with flat boots and tights for a retro beatnik look that would have you ready for poetry night in a coffee house. The outfit is impeccably made just as all of Gizza's items are and I love the fact I can wear it with my Maitreya Mesh body and the sassy beret it comes with makes me a happy girls because I love when I designer sees a total look and creates it so well. The skin is Glam Affair and another great find at Chapter Four! Cute short hair from elua and accessories from Swallow make me a girl about town ready to put a dent in the shopping economy!

Barn Bride

Barn Bride

I have to admit when it comes to SL weddings I am not a huge fan, while in RL I think weddings done correctly can be a wonderful celebration but I popped into FaMESHed and the Trompe loeil wedding barn is so well made and the decorations so spot on I had to purchase it just because it would make a great photography set or party barn in general. Since I was rarely do any wedding stuff I figured why not, just because I am not a big fan of SL weddings doesn't mean I don't like dressing up, ala' the "Friends" episode where the girls all dress in wedding gowns and drink beer and just feel pretty. I found this adorable dress from Stitched at the Fashion Fair and I immediately thought of it as a cute short wedding dress alternative, not everyone wants to be a princess cream puff for their big day! "My Little Polka Dot" dress is very cute and paired with a hat from a very inexpensive gown I found on the marketplace I was pretty much set. Adding some pearls, a bouquet and heels makes for a fun little bridal outfit.
